About the Appeal

The See It. Treat It. appeal is funding a state-of-the-art MRI simulator, this advanced machine provides superior scans, allowing for more precise targeting of cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue.

Only five cancer centres in the country have a dedicated cancer MRI simulator scanner such as this. We want the next to be here in South Yorkshire.

This means:

Improved patient outcomes

Reduction in side effects

Increased cancer survival rates

Immediate impact on patient care Bottom line: faster answers, smarter treatment, and care that stays close to home.

Standard CT Scanner vs MRI Simulator

While standard CT and MRI machines show the body’s structures, they can’t reveal how cancer cells are behaving. The MRI simulator provides this crucial insight, helping doctors plan treatment with pinpoint accuracy.

Real Impact

"As a former prostate cancer patient who endured 20 exhausting trips for radiotherapy at Weston Park, I have to say the reduction to five trips will make a colossal difference to people’s lives.

It is a complete game-changer that will ease the burden and lessen the exhaustion of cancer treatment.

I am still struggling with the side effects of radiotherapy a year on, and the MRI Simulator has the ability to reduce side effects.

It’s safe to say the MRI Simulator could have changed my life if it was available at the time of my diagnosis.

The scanner will allow for much greater accuracy in targeting cancer cells whilst sparing healthy tissue. From a personal level and for the benefit of future patients this represents a monumental shift and one massive advantage.
