When travelling, Hannah and Peter stumbled upon a similar concept in Asia and we’re hooked…they played two in two days. When arriving back to the UK, they didn’t feel like the handful that existed there at the time we’re up to the same quality as overseas, so they decided to create their own version.

THE HUNT FOR A NEW SITE
The duo found the perfect building to launch, in Hannah’s home town, Sheffield and so The Great Escape Game was born! Fueled with adrenaline, passion and countless pot noodles; they worked seven days a week and were propelled through the world of business trying to absorb as much information that was thrown their way… Until they received a letter stating that the building was to be demolished. So the hunt began for a new site.

LEEDS, LEEDS, LEEDS
Leeds site was born. All the profits were reinvested and this time rather than being a conveyor belt of people, they built a new team and introduced a swanky bar, a kitchen and corporate area and hired prop designers, who made their games look like Hollywood film sets – fancy! Now the experience could last up to a full day, so in came everyone from businesses to hen and stag parties, but now they could chat to the players about their experiences and celebrate their successes, whilst they had a celebratory drink, a pizza and a game of Cards Against Humanity.

WE BRING IT BACK HOME
With the threat of the first site closure still in sight, they found a new Sheffield city centre location, on Vicar Lane and mirrored the setup they had done in Leeds and introduced 5 new games to the market. Management and a marketing team were new departments to the business.

Plus, our newest product was ‘Outbreak’ an immersive drinking experience that was so popular throughout the Halloween period, it became a permanent fixture to the brand!

THE NEW NORMAL
The Royal Armouries site is launched following over a year of conversation and a brief to educate players and allow them to navigate the site’s beautiful artifacts, this finale is a room hidden on one of the floors. Weeks after opening, the corona-virus pandemic hits and grinds everything to a standstill. The demolishing of our first site occurs.
