You are abruptly awoken in the middle of night by shrieking sirens, the entire prison has been put on lock-down.

You hear crazed voices echoing through the empty hallways, a stampede of guards clatter against the concrete, as cast iron bars rattle from every direction. Reality hits you, a memory of over-hearing one of the gangs speaking about an escape plan becomes your central thought. You hear the door to your block burst open, the guard screams and then silence. You suspect the guard has been knocked out cold, you know if there ever was a chance for you to escape, now is your time.

With completely new puzzles, theming and story-line, “Alcatraz 2.0” is re-playable for those who have played the original “Alcatraz” game.

I’ve done a lot of Escape Rooms, and I saw on the website that Alcatraz is one of the hardest the Great Escape Game offers, so myself and a few friends booked in to play it. It was a good challenge, some puzzles were mind boggling but so satisfying when completed. The set was nicely done as well, with realistic cells in the game that made us feel as if we were actually trying to break free. We’ve already booked in to attempt the other challenging game ‘Submerged’ in a few weeks time, hopefully it’ll be just as good.

Played Alcatraz this evening, we didn’t get out but that doesn’t change the fact that we had a good time. The staff that work here are so enthusiastic, it really gets you ready for the game. They helped us through the game and explained things well but also kept it in theme with the game. We had quite a few of us in our team and we all felt like we had a role, or something to be doing..even if it wasn’t the right thing to be doing. One of my favourite parts was dressing up like a prisoner, that made it feel even more immersive. Lots of fun!

My boyfriend and I booked to play Alcatraz, we always love to test ourselves when it comes to escape rooms. The game itself was great, and very challenging. Some of the puzzles were just mind blowing, I won’t spoil it for anyone who wants to play, but finding hidden messages and clues felt very rewarding, especially after working hard on them. When our time was up, our Games Master offered us extra time, which was very kind, and with that we managed to escape! We will definitely be coming again.
